CHICHI WEMBIRA is a high energy singer, band leader, instrumentalist, dancer, and performer of Zimbabwean music -- her own blend of intricate traditional songs and modern original creations. 

With a sound unlike anything you've heard, she has performed with her mbira ("thumb piano") all across Zimbabwe, as well as Zambia and Sweden, and has been based in the U.S. since 2025. She and her band have quickly become a staple at cultural events and festivals in the Midwest, including Swahili Fest, Afrifest, Northside Rock 'N Roll Carnival, SOS Art Festival, and Bi Okoto's Africa On The Move, and they can frequently be found bringing ancient and funky sounds to local clubs and venues.
